About us

My name is Frank Mueller and along with my wife Kristin, we are a husband and wife wedding photography team that own and operate Gate City Photography in Greensboro NC. Kristin and I began photographing weddings a few years ago because of my passion for photography and because we both enjoyed seeing the happiness that couples experienced on their wedding days. After all, a wedding day is one of the happiest days (arguably THE happiest day) in a couple’s life together. We decided to use my photography skills to capture awesome memories for engaged/married couples. In the beginning, I was the sole photographer and Kristin had the very important role of assisting me with various non-photography tasks. After some time of watching me photograph clients and seeing the interactions of bride/groom/guests with the camera, Kristin began second shooting for Gate City Photography.

Our style always tended toward the photojournalistic side of wedding photography. My mantra was to capture the day as it unfolded without guiding, posing or contriving images. We have always felt, and do so now more than ever, that it is our mission to capture our clients’ very important stories just as those stories unfold before our very eyes. We do not believe in directing or posing, with the exception of posed formal groups and the occasional images we envision to become wedding art. Our style is 90 % photojournalistic/documentary and 10 % guided.

While I have a way of helping clients to feel relaxed in front of the camera, Kristin has the uncanny gift of doing the same with wedding guests within no more than a few moments of interacting with them.
